When, during the 20ies, my great grandfather decided to build the house, where now the Bed & Breakfast is, it was a good choice; during that period San Lazzaro was (in comparison with Bologna) a small rural village and all the area an authentic paradise: two houses in the street; the Savena torrent where you could go bathing; a lot of fields planted with vineyard
Bed & Breakfast’s name “Antico Vinaio” (“Ancient wine merchant”) derive from my great grandfather’s job: wine production & sales.
Nowadays in spite of the inclusion of San Lazzaro in Bologna and the consequent urbanization of the area, there’s still a bucolic atmosphere. An atmosphere due to the proximity with the hills and to the big garden around the house that end into the Savena torrent. An atmosphere that distinguish our B&B as a kind of oasis in the city.
The house has three floor where only the owner and his family live.
Close to the main entrance there’s an access for parking.
At the first floor a big terrace with pergola is the place where, especially during the spring when all around fruit-trees flower, our guest can relax themselves after the work or after a visit into the Bologna city center (only 5 km far from the B&B and reachable with a single bus that stop at the beginning of via Minarini).
In addition to the visit at Bologna, San Lazzaro area offer wonderful walks into the near hills where you can find a park called “Parco dei Gessi Bolognesi” and the famous Spipola cave.
Bologna’s trade fair is close to the B&B, too. Few kilometers along a fast city bypass.
